Long-line Concrete Sleeper Plant
Long prestressing beds where sleepers are cast in a continuous line and saw cut after curing. A lower-investment route for uniform sleeper production.

- 80 to 120 m (typical)

How a long-line plant works
In a long-line plant, prestressing strands run the full length of a casting bed. Moulds along the bed are filled and compacted, the concrete cures, the strands are released and the line is cut into individual sleepers.
When long-line makes sense
- Lower initial investment in machinery than a carrousel line.
- Uniform products. Best when one sleeper type runs for long periods; changing type takes downtime.
- Space. Beds typically stretch 80 to 120 m, so a long hall is needed.
- Cutting. Saw cutting creates dust and wastewater that must be treated.
