Why the feeder matters
A crusher works best with a steady, choke-fed flow. The feeder controls that flow, takes the impact of dumped rock and, in many designs, removes soil and fines before crushing. The right type depends on lump size, moisture and clay content.
Feeder types
- Vibrating feeder: steady, metered flow to crushers or screens for dry to slightly damp, non-sticky material.
- Grizzly feeder: feeds the primary crusher and screens out fines through adjustable bars; handles large lumps and blasted rock.
- Belt feeder: precise, continuous metering of sand and medium-size material from bins and silos.
- Apron feeder: heavy-duty pan-and-chain feeder for wet, sticky, abrasive and high-impact feed; tolerates direct dumping.
- Wobbler feeder: rotating elliptical rollers that clean themselves and remove clay from wet, sticky feed ahead of the primary crusher.
Variable speed drives on most types let the control system match feed rate to crusher load.
