Indicative figures based on manufacturer data. Capacity and specification are confirmed in each offer.
What a VSI does
A vertical shaft impactor accelerates the feed in a fast rotor and throws it against a rock shelf (rock-on-rock) or steel anvils (rock-on-steel). The result is cubical chips and manufactured sand with a controlled grading, which concrete and asphalt specifications often require.
Rock-on-rock or rock-on-steel
- Rock-on-rock lowers wear on abrasive rock and gives excellent shape with less fines.
- Rock-on-steel gives higher reduction and more sand from each pass.
Features to compare
- Direct drive or V-belt drive with adjustable rotor speed.
- Rotor designed to cut wear while keeping particle shape.
- Quick-change wear liners and a rotor lifting device.
- Vibration monitoring and central lubrication.
VSI crushers are also built into portable sand making and washing plants.

Questions buyers ask
Can a VSI replace natural sand?
In many markets, yes. Manufactured sand from a VSI, washed where needed, is widely used in concrete. Local standards and tests decide the final use.
Which configuration should I choose?
Rock-on-rock for abrasive rock and best shape; rock-on-steel for more reduction and sand yield. The manufacturer recommends one from your rock tests.
